Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas reached out to Hurricane Isaac evacuees Aug. 31 at the St. Anthony Cathedral Center, Beaumont. Any household that was forced to evacuate was eligible to receive gift cards for food, gas or medications.
“We’re always watching to see what the needs are that aren’t being met by other agencies,” Randi Ferttita, director of Disaster, Trauma and Loss, said.
Nearly a dozen volunteers were on hand throughout the day meeting with families affected by the storm, most of which were from the New Orleans area.
