Spreading the news of the church in Southeast Texas. By doing that the staff of the Stewardship and Communications office at the Diocese of Beaumont took home three first place awards – and more – at the Excellence in Media Awards banquet June 8 sponsored by the Press Club of Southeast Texas.
The office received first place in television PSA for its spot focusing on the sacrament of reconciliation as well as first place in website photography. The office placed first and second in radio PSA for the Encounter Catholic Baby Expo and Reconciliation.
Sarah Dupre placed second in feature photo for her Our Lady of Guadalupe feast day photo. Juan Ceja placed second in brochures for All Are Welcome, the brochure for the Catholic Schools in the diocese, and third in special events material for the Pastoral Center Dedication.
Each year the best submissions in public relations, newspaper, magazine, television, radio and Internet are recognized. This year more than 600 entries were submitted by local journalists, broadcasters and public relations experts.
The annual contest is judged by experts in the media from across the country. Work published, aired or produced and released between Jan. 1, 2011, and Dec. 31, 2011, was eligible for entry.
