The nine candidates for permanent deacon for the Diocese of Beaumont were instituted as acolytes at a Sept. 10 9 Mass at the St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica Chapel, Beaumont.
Bishop Curtis J. Guillory, SVD, said that the deacon candidates should listen to Jesus’ word and put that word into practice. Candidates for the permanent diaconate are Clint Elkins, Mirley Esprit, Anthony Goudeau, Marc Griffin, John Jannise, L.D. Keen, Garry LeBlanc, Ivan Watson and George Wood.
