Youth in the Diocese of Beaumont got a chance to praise, worship and be inspired Feb. 23 courtesy of Doug Tooke and David Casey. The two performed at Nederland High School in a concert sponsored by the Office of Youth Ministry.
Bishop Curtis Guillory, SVD, opened the evening by offering a prayer that the youth would be lifted up and inspired before the evening’s song and presentation began.
“Catholics don’t like to talk about their faith. Some of you would have no problem with someone seeing you celebrating your faith, but I know a lot of you have that armor and you hide that celebration. But I’m here to tell you there is nothing to be afraid of,” Tooke said.
The two performed songs to pump up the crowd during the presentation which centered on being open about faith and finding strength in God.
“We are standing on the high ground with our sling just like David. He conquered his goliath because he believed in his creator. If you don’t know what your sling is, let that be your prayer tonight. Ask Him to show you your inner talents and help you slay your Goliath,” Tooke said.
