Ordained a deacon June 18, 1983, Deacon McBride served Southeast Texas for more than 20 years.

In addition to serving the ministries of the diocese, Deacon Mcbride also served as a chaplain for Southeast Texas Hospice for 20 years, working until his death.
“Chaplain McBride addressed the spiritual issues of each patient and their family, and he was a very big participant in our bereavement and grief counseling program. The fact that he was a family man and so deeply spiritual and so deeply committed to his family, at the time of death for patients that really helped him work with them,” Mary McKenna, director of Southeast Texas Hospice, said.
“He was always a man who was very hospitable. He cared tremendously for the people of St. Francis as if they were his own family, and I greatly admired his work with the hospice community,” Father David Edwards said of his time working with Deacon McBride at St. Francis.
