Most celebrated the Easter weekend with Easter egg hunts and ham lunches, but on April 3 it was all about motorcycles at the 15th annual B.J. Stelly Memorial Bike Blessing in Port Arthur.
Father Sinclair Oubre, pastor of St. John the Evangelist, Port Arthur, and director of the Apostleship of the Sea for the Diocese of Beaumont, blessed 466 motorcycles lined up in front of the Seafarer Center, Port Arthur.
Father Oubre said the blessing was an opportunity to ask God to give protection to all of those who are getting back on their bikes at the start of the motorcycle season.
The bike blessing is sponsored by the Port Arthur International Seafarers’ Center, and all proceeds from the event went to the center.
The Apostleship of the Sea of the Diocese of Beaumont is supported by the Catholic faithful of Southeast Texas through the Bishop’s Faith Appeal.
